Rug Requirements
Canterpants work with most standard rugs. Here's what to check before you fit.
Canterpants work with most standard rugs. Here's what to check before you fit.
Canterpants have been designed based on certain assumptions about your rug. To attach the pants, your rug needs:
Front Canterpants connect to a D-ring on the Chest Buckle provided in Canterpants sets. This requires a standard chest strap on the horse's rug. If you don't have a standard chest strap on the rug, options to resolve this are:
Hind Canterpants connect to a D-ring near the stivle. This can attach to the leg strap D-ring of a standard rug.
If you don't have a D-ring at the stifle on the rug you will need to have a D-ring (or similar) sewn into the rug.
Hind Canterpants also connect to a D-ring at the rump. This can attache to the leg strap or rump strap D-ring of a standard rug.
If you don't have a D-ring at the rump on the rug you will need to have a D-ring (or similar) sewn into the rug.
Approximate attachment points are shown on the diagram.
The front leg connection points are achieved with the use of the Chest Buckle and Belly Band, or alternative D-ring attachments fitted to the rug.
The hind leg connection points are inherent in a standard rug leg strap fittings. If these do not exist, they will require an alternative D-ring attachment to be fitted to the rug.
We know you've probably shopped around to find the right rug for your horse, which is why we designed Canterpants the way we did. Unfortunately we can't cover all rug designs, which is why we've offered solutions for non-standard rug fittings.
You may need to get out the sewing machine, take it to your rug repairer, or call on a friend or family member.
You can supply your own connection points, or you can obtain easy-to-sew D-ring assemblies from our shop
