Our Story

Canterpants is a story about how I solved my horse's fly biting problems by making her pants.

She was so happy to be fly free that she cantered up the hill on her second day of wearing them and we came up with the name CANTERPANTS!

It was so successful I started a business so I could share the Canterpants solution.

About The Founder

The success of Reena's pants and the encouragement of friends and family led me to find ways to make a no-sew solution for attaching horse pants.

I wasn't expecting to come out of retirement to start a business, but I felt the need to share this with similarly distraught horses and their owners. Hence the birth of Canterpants.

Canterpants is a small family owned business and its journey commenced in November 2023.  I started with simple pull up pants attached to the Reena's rug with velcro - effective but cumbersome.  After months of development, trial and error we developed the Canterpants solution.

Canterpants are designed and manufactured in Western Australia.

Reena's Story

Reena is a retired arabian mare living with Cushings disease.  She’s extremely sensitive to biting insects and the stable flies swarm her legs and bite, drawing blood attracting even more flies.

Her poor legs were bloodied, scabby and swollen and she became resigned to her fate, standing defeated and miserable.

After trying and failing with other products on the market, I came to the conclusion that full leg coverage was the only thing that was going to help her, so I set about making her a pair of trousers.

It was so successful that on the second day of wearing her new pants, Reena came cantering up the hill (hence the name Canterpants).

We knew then that we just had to share this now that Reena is fly free and frolicking again.

Supporting Other Animals

We believe in giving back to those less fortunate and as an animal lover, to me there is no more worthy cause than improving the lives of working animals in developing countries.

That’s why $5 from the sale of every set of Canterpants will be donated to Animal Aid Abroad to directly help improve the lives of these long suffering animals.

For Our Environment

The environment is important to us, so our range has been made with the environment in mind.

The use of natural fibres is not only good for the environment, but also kind to the skin and cool in our summer heat.

We're also conscious of our packaging, which is sustainable and can be recycled or composted.
